I want to thank this blog for being the first pro-Huckabee blog on the internet. It was through this blog, that I first endorsed Mike Huckabee and was contacted by David Huckabee. Almost a year later, I am proud to have served as the Arizona Chairman of the Huckabee For President campaign. I stated from the beginning to fellow conservatives in Arizona, that I was supporting the only God-fearing Christian that had a chance of winning. That proved to be true. As we have predicted for years, Gov. Mike Huckabee is a son of the South and as such he is the ONLY candidate who can keep the vital Southern bloc of states together. Without the Southern bloc, the GOP would have lost the White House in the last two elections (and it is largely the reason Clinton won the two before that).

Southern states keep Huckabee's bid alive

After a series of victories in the South and border states Tuesday, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee insisted he can still secure the Republican presidential nomination, promising supporters that he would be the "one guy answering the bell every time there's a new round." While he remains far behind front-runner Sen. John McCain of Arizona in the contest for delegates to this summer's Republican nominating convention, Huckabee captured enough states Tuesday -- at least five -- to establish himself as a viable conservative alternative.



The showing made Huckabee, rather than former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the second-strongest Republican in the nationwide round of voting. "I believe that one of the things you're seeing across this nation is that people are saying the conservatives do have a choice," Huckabee told his cheering supporters in Little Rock, Ark., late Tuesday. "Because the conservatives have a voice and tonight they're getting a chance to express that . . . they'll get to continue expressing that choice and that voice."



Television pundits were praising Huckabee for hanging tough in the Republican race, although he was being outspent many times over, particularly by Romney. The candidate compared himself in an interview with CNN's Campbell Brown to Sunday's long-shot Super Bowl champions, the New York Giants. "It still is a land of the people," Huckabee said, "and we're going to continue to prove that even with limited resources but lots of heart, the presidency can belong to the people of this country."



Flanked by his wife, Janet, Huckabee added: "We're proving that we're still on our feet and much to the amazement of many, we're getting there, folks, we're getting there."

We took one of those silver's that the Romney campaign is always so proud of. Honestly, Thompson bled off just enough of the conservative vote to give McCain the edge over us. Thompson is done, now, so we press on to Florida!

South Carolina primary voters select their candidate today, and the last polls before voting began indicate a big surge for Huckabee, putting him in a tie for first place with McCain.

Before this week, Gov. Huckabee had never spent one dime in the state of Michigan. He has no campaign office and no staff in the state. But the response to Huckabee in Michigan over the last few days has been absolutely phenomenal.

Huckabee Ahead In Polls, Poised To Take Michigan From Romney

Detroit, MI (AHN) - Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is setting his sights on winning in Michigan. The most recent poll shows him with a 1 percent lead over rival and native son Mitt Romney. Up until now, Huckabee has relied on a grass-roots efforts from evangelicals and Fair Tax advocates fueling his campaign there.

That combination worked in Iowa his supporters say. They say that Huckabee has a wide base of support in Michigan and can win the primary if his supporters just go to the polls and vote.
According to CNN reports, one of the leaders of the movement, Gary Glenn said that the network of evangelists and tax advocates has "laid the groundwork" for a Huckabee win.

"The fact that he's even in a position to threaten Mitt Romney in his native state is a real statement to the depth of support he has here," Glenn told CNN.

Glenn could be right. The most recent Michigan poll shows him in a virtual dead heat with Romney who has been aggressively campaigning in the state where he is also relying on his old connections there to deliver the victory to him.

He was born and raised in Michigan where his father served as governor.

CNN news reports that Romney has sunk $3 million into TV ads in Michigan. Romney had called winning Michigan his priority after his loss to John McCain in New Hampshire following his loss to Huckabee in Iowa.

In contrast, Huckabee who had not a campaign office in Michigan, spent money on TV ads, or campaigned much in the state at the time the poll was done came in on top.

The poll released on Tuesday by Rossman Group/MIRS/Denno-Noor showed Huckabee with 23 percent, Romney with 22 percent, McCain at 18 percent and the rest of the Republicans below 10 percent each.

Mitt Romney is complaining about John McCain and Mike Huckabee "cherry picking" contests, while at the same time announcing he is adopting Huckabee's media strategy.

Who knew that you couldn't attack everyone in sight without having them form alliances and gang up on you?
